How to scan stock with your phone, without a barcode scanner
An Android phone is enough to run your stock. In CheckThis the phone's camera reads the barcode, finds the item and shows how much you have in each store, so you can count, receive and sell without buying scanners first.
- An Android phone with Chrome or Samsung Internet (or a Mac or Chromebook with Chrome)
- Your items in CheckThis Stock management
Steps
Sign in on your phone
Open checkthis.top in Chrome on the phone and sign in. Allow the camera when the browser asks.
Open the scanner
Go to Stock management and tap 📷 Scan, then the camera button. Point the camera at the barcode: the item, its stock in each store and its cost appear, and the phone vibrates when it has read the code.
Count or receive by scanning
Choose “Add to the list” and scan each item; every scan adds one. Turn the list into a stock count, a receipt of goods, an issue or a transfer between stores.
Let a second person approve differences
A count never changes the books by itself: differences go to someone else for approval as a stock adjustment.
Sell with the camera at the counter
In APOPS POS, the point of sale, tap the 📷 button next to the item box and scan the customer's items. Each one is added at its price.
Tips
- On an iPhone or a Windows computer the browser does not read barcodes from the camera yet: use an Android phone, a USB or Bluetooth scanner (it types the code like a keyboard), or type the code.
- A busy till scanning hundreds of items a day is faster with a handheld scanner. Start with the phone and add a scanner only where the queue needs it.
